defamiliarization

“Defamiliarize the familiar”
Writing gives us ways on how to see things.

The same object is seen from different angles

which then gives the reader the choice

on how they want to see an experience.

“Literature gives us names and symbols in a grammar of experience,

syncronizing feeling with events into an understandable order.”

Kathryn Morton

Literature is not a reflection of reality

but it gives us a glimpse into realities

so we may be able to deepen our understanding of our own realities.

Readers understand what they read in the text

by referring to the universe shared by the writer and themselves.

It is in that universe where the writer and the reader

becomes a continuity of thought

The universe equips readers about the world within the text.

it enables them to understand, react and re-live the experience as if it were their own

Literature helps us savor over and over again

the “distilled spirit” of life.

Is it possible to live LifE twice?

Identities are formed when one goes through life

gets his share of lived experiences

and writes them down to keep the memory alive.

Writers try to connect the abstract ideas with concrete objects and events

to embody the ideas and make them

come to life.

when we decide to keep those memories,

we write them on paper and we let them go

to be part of other people’s memories

“Reading the lived experiences is living life twice

like a piggyback ride you want to go through

over and over again.”

Wow! Nice one! My mind has opened into another realization. The things mentioned in the article are really true. Literature could really be seen in different ways by different people. Some use imagination and some write through experiences. I am fond of writing, too. And when I write, I often speak from my heart - on what I feel.

It is really true that a reader could live again by reading the lived experiences of the authors even if he reads it again and again. This article is a very inspiring one. I never thought literature that way before.

Nice! this poem opens the eyes of people who don’t like literature. this one brings out the good thing of reading literary works.
it is very true that literature makes it possible to live life the second time.

I like reading ,but when it comes to writing , i just can’t make a decent work. no matter how i give effort in it , i just can’t do it but because of this article, maybe someday in another world or in another time… who knows?!

when I can’t expressed my selves to other people I choose to write my feelings down in a piece of paper and let the water in the river took it away.In an instant after doing that I felt good..free from worries.Literature is just one way of expressing one selves…Just like writing your experiences..It became part of your memories..reminiscing the past let us live a life twice.Literature is great.!
